At Docuten, we have incorporated Chave Móvel Digital as a qualified electronic signature method, accredited by ARTE, providing a secure signature recognised across Europe and fully integrated into the platform to streamline digital processes in Portugal.
What is Chave Móvel Digital?
Chave Móvel Digital (CMD) is an authentication and electronic signature system promoted by the Portuguese Government. It enables citizens to securely identify themselves and digitally sign documents using a single access method based on their mobile phone number and a personal PIN.
This system is linked to the Portuguese Citizen Card or passport, ensuring integration with the main official identification documents.

Establishes the European framework for electronic identification and trust services. It guarantees interoperability across the 27 Member States and the mutual recognition of electronic signatures.
Such as the Civil Code and Decree-Law No 12/2021, which regulate digital identification, electronic signatures and the legal effects of electronic documents.
Based on a qualified certificate, it provides the highest level of legal validity (“prova plena”), equivalent to a handwritten signature.
Docuten is an ARTE-accredited provider
Docuten is officially accredited by the Agência para a Reforma Tecnológica do Estado (ARTE) in Portugal, allowing us to offer digital signatures using Chave Móvel Digital directly from our platform.
In addition, Docuten is a Qualified Trust Service Provider (QTSP) under the eIDAS Regulation, as listed in the European Trusted List Browser. This certification guarantees that our electronic signatures—including qualified signatures—meet the most stringent requirements in terms of security, document integrity and legal recognition across the EU.
